Principal's Report
Dear Brooks Community,
What an incredible end to the year we have had, with so many highlights including;
- Our highly successful Year 10 camp in week 9 at Camp Clayton
- Presentation Day last Friday of week 9
- Graduation Assembly Wednesday of this week
- Year 10 Leavers Dinner Wednesday evening of this week
- Pool Day at Riverside Pool on Thursday of this week
Our Year 10s have done us proud – they looked magnificent at the dinner and it was wonderful to see so many parents, family and friends in attendance to watch as they entered the Grand Chancellor in style.
Our students have enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere this week and engaging in a variety of fun activities with their teachers and friends.
This year we will be farewelling two members of staff;
- Mr Luke Beasley will be transferring to Queechy High School. Luke has been a member of our team for 11 years and during that time he has had numerous roles, particularly teaching music and maths/science. We thank Luke for his contributions to Brooks; he will be sadly missed by his colleagues, and the many students who have been fortunate enough to have been in one of Mr Beasley’s very organised classes.
- Mr Alex Gunn has accepted a teaching position at the Launceston Preparatory School. Alex has been a very dynamic and enthusiastic addition to the Year 8 teaching team this year. He has built many strong relationships with both students and his colleagues. We wish him the very best in his new role for 2020.
We will also be welcoming many, many new staff to BHS;
- Ms Kim Schade – 9/10 Humanities
- Mr Nathan Chatterton – AST in Year 8
- Miss Emily Kreymborg – Science specialist
- Ms Amanda Williams – Year 7 core
- Miss Maddie McDougall – Year 7 core
- Mr Jordan King – Year 7 core
- Ms Leigh-Anne Mick – Year 8 core and Mandarin
- Mr Oliver Robinson – Health/PE
We also welcome a few returning faces:
- Ms Kendyl Ponting – Year 8 core
- Mr Matt Barwick – 9/10 Maths and Science
- Miss Emma-Lea Pearce – intern in Year 7/8 core
Lastly, we rejoice at the return of Mrs Louise Fisher to the Principalship! 2020 at BHS will be yet another fantastic journey for us.
Have a safe, happy and enjoyable summer break.
Kind Regards
Louise Rose
Principal
