Principal's Report

Rose, Louise

Dear Brooks Community

The end of the school year is almost upon us, with Christmas and the end of year summer break nearly very close.  It would be nice to experience some summer weather, I am rather concerned about the elongated spate of cooler weather we are experiencing!

We have had many wonderful experiences for our students since the last newsletter:

  • Year 7 Pool Excursion - a huge success and much enjoyed by all staff and students
  • Orientation Day for all our new 2020 Year 7 students on Wednesday of last week
  • Year 8 My Education Excursion to Anvers Chocolate and Ashgrove Cheese

Our Orientation Day was a huge success!  It was fabulous to see our incoming students enjoying the day.  The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive.  A huge thank you to Miss Willis, Mr Blundell and staff who supported our students for their variety of learning experiences on this day.  We have 5 classes of Year 7s in 2020!  Our numbers continue to grow.

Nonetheless, as always,  we are busy with all of the end of school year business:

  • Year 10 Camp to Camp Clayton Monday and Tuesday December 9 and 10 respectively
  • End of Year School Reports posted home in week 9
  • Presentation Day Friday 13 December at 9:30am
  • Graduation Assembly Wednesday 18 December at 9:30am
  • Leavers Dinner Wednesday18 December from 6:00pm
  • MYC Celebration Afternoon Wednesday 11 December
  • Pool Excursion on Thursday 19 December

This is the first time in 10 years that BHS has offered a school camp to students. This is a significant responsibility for the teachers attending camp and as such we expect our year 10 cohort to appreciate and make the most of this opportunity at Camp Clayton, by following agreed rules, expectations and having a fabulous time!  This camp is at no cost to our students and is a significant cost for us to absorb...however, it will be worth every cent if our staff and students have a fantastic time together!

There will be one last newsletter before the end of the school year where I will share our considerable staff changes for 2020.

We hope to see you attend our upcoming major school events.

Kind Regards

Louise Rose
