Dear Families and Community Members

Exciting news for BHS with our Indoor Soccer team winning their grand final on Wednesday against Cressy!  It was a very exciting game and we are all so proud of our amazing soccer players. Congratulations also to our netballers who were narrowly defeated in their grand final by Star of the Sea.

Senior years students Rosella, Brock, Poasi and Liam spent their Friday night representing BHS at the Northern heats of the Rock Challenge.  Rosella represented our school in the acoustic section and then joined the band “Rinzler” to perform a very entertaining set to the crowd.  A huge thank you to the staff and students who supported our musicians by attending the Rock Challenge on Friday night – and special thanks must go to our music teacher Ben McKinnon for the time, effort and support he provides for all our musicians.

Congratulations also to our student leaders for organising a highly successful beanie and free dress day to support the Mark Hughes Foundation for brain cancer.  They raised a total of $266.  Our students and staff embraced the beanie theme with some very colourful and fabulous beanies being worn alongside our new distinctive BHS beanie.

This week sees the deadline for completion of our staff, parent and student wellbeing surveys.  I strongly urge parents to complete the parent surveys if you were one of the lucky random 50 parents selected for this privilege.  This year sees our students complete a much more detailed Student Wellbeing Survey, fully supported by the Tasmania Department of Education.  Wellbeing helps our students to explore, experiment and learn with confidence and positivity. Wellbeing is described as when you feel loved and safe, have access to material basics and are healthy; everyone deserves to be safe, well and positive.  Every student at BHS will be completing the survey, answering questions about their wellbeing and this will help us to better understand how to support all our students at Brooks in the coming future.

We are excited to have an extended lunch hour this Wednesday so all of BHS can watch and support Brooks has Talent. We have five acts in the grand final and all students and staff are able to vote for their most favourite performance.

Brooks is always an exciting place and we have much to celebrate.
